We investigate the evolution, cell biology, and virulence of bacterial pathogens, including Vibrio cholerae, enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli, Shigella, Salmonella spp., and Listeria monocytogenes. We take interdisciplinary approaches to investigate the underlying mechanisms of virulence and the host response to infection. We also aim to translate our knowledge into development of new vaccines and therapeutics.
